Employee amputates fingertip in bandsaw

At 10:30 a.m. on September 27, 2019, an employee was cutting steel studs with a battery-operated portable bandsaw when the blade came off. The employee noticed the drive wheel rubber band was dislodged and was reinstalling it when his finger got pinched between the drive wheel and the housing. The employee was wearing cut level 4 gloves but suffered a fingertip amputation. The employee was treated without hospitalization.
