Investigation Summary
At approximately 7:30 a.m. on July 11, 2019, an employee who was the shift supervisor was checking a vibration issue on a rotating drive shaft for a coil coater. The employee placed his hand on the rotating drive shaft to feel for vibrations. The employee's wedding ring was caught on a grease fitting. The employee's left ring finger was degloved and was transported to the hospital. The employee's left ring finger was amputated at the lower knuckle. The employee was hospitalized for treatment.
