Subject: Clarification: 29 CFR 1926.603(a)(8) as Related to Tying Off Loft-workers, Top-men and/or Pile-monks

1. Purpose

The purpose of this directive is to clarify the application of 29 CFR 1926.603(a)(8) as it relates to tying off employees using work platforms or stirrups on sheet piling.

2. Documentation Affected

Whether or not fall protection is to be used when reinforcing steel is being installed and application of OSHA's job-made ladder requirements to rebar cages.
