Abstract: On June 22, 1984, OSHA published a final standard for ethylene oxide (EtO) that established a permissible exposure limit of 1 part EtO per million parts of air determined as an 8-houre time-weighted average (TWA) concentration (49 FR 25734). The standard also includes provision for methods of exposure control, personal protective equipment, measurement of employee exposure, training, signs and labels, medical surveillance, regulated areas, emergencies and recordkeeping.

Abstract: The information collection requirements contained in the Ethylene Oxide (Eto) final rule, paragraphs 1910.1047(a)(2), (d), (e), (f)(2), (g)(3), (h), (i), and (j), have now received OMB paperwork clearance. The OMB clearance expires January 31, 1986. Start-up dates in paragraph (m)(2) are to be calculated from the effective dates of the various provisions of the final rule. The effective date is March 12, 1985.

Abstract: Adoption of a STEL for ethylene oxide (EtO) is not warranted by the available health evidence, and that a STEL is not reasonably necessary or appropriate for inclusion in the final EtO standard. OSHA reaffirms the need for and feasibility of the 1 ppm TWA and other provisions of the standard.
Abstract: Corrects and clarifies language to the Occupational Exposure to Ethylene Oxide (EtO) (1910.1047) final standard that was published June 22, 1984 (49 FR 25734). Appendices A and B are amended to impose no regulatory burden. This document also corrects the language used in the October 11, 1985 notice pertaining to labeling (50 FR 41491).
