29 CFR 1910.184(c)(7): Slings shall be padded or protected from the sharp edges of their loads. Northeast, saw department, single shipping and receiving dock, Demag 10 Ton serial no. 95433 overhead bridge crane, type VI sling 8-foot long nylon return/reverse eye: on or about June 21, 2017, employees hand-guided basket-hitched suspended loads to a temporary staging location. Employees were exposed to crushing hazards from sling failure where the provided sling was not additionally supplied with padding and/or protective equipment/material to prevent snags, punctures, tears, cuts, and broken or worn stitches. Abatement certification is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
