Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.101(b): "Compressed gases." The in-plant handling, storage, and utilization of all compressed gases in cylinders, portable tanks, rail tankcars, or motor vehicle cargo tanks shall be in accordance with Compressed Gas Association Pamphlet P-1-1965, which is incorporated by reference as specified in Sec. 1910.6. Section 3.3.1 of the CGA Pamphlet P-1-1965 refers to storing cylinders in accordance with CGA and NFPA standards The CGA Pamphlet P-1-1991 Section 3.7.4.1 states that "All compressed gas cylinders in service or in storage shall be secured to prevent from falling." a) Liquefied Propane Gas filling station: On June 29, 2018, and at times prior, the employer exposed employees to struck-by hazards while filling LPG containers on forklifts, in that an unsecured nitrogen cylinder was stored next to the Liquefied Propane Gas filling station.
