29 CFR 1910.252(a)(2)(xiii)(C) Insist that cutters or welders and their supervisors are suitably trained in the safe operation of their equipment and the safe use of the process. (a) Truck Maintenance Bay: On or about October 7, 2019, the employer did not adequately insist that a welder was suitably trained on the safe use of appropriate personal protective equipment when using an oxygen acetylene torch to heat and cut a stuck pin on a garbage truck pivot arm connected to the garbage truck's rear container gate. This condition exposed the employee to a burn hazard.
