29 CFR 1910.242(a): Hand and portable powered tools or equipment were not kept in safe condition: a. On or about July 7, 2021, in the shop, the employer failed to ensure effective guarding nor the maximum operating speed of equipment and accessories was adequate on tools furnished by employees. The guarding device for the Central Pneumatic, model number 68831, portable hand pneumatic abrasive wheel grinder was not installed. Also, the maximum operating speed of abrasive wheel was exceeded by the pneumatic abrasive wheel tool. An employee was, thereby exposed to struck by hazards. b. On or about July 16, 2021, in the shop, the employer failed to ensure effective guarding on tools furnished by employees. The guarding device for the Astro Pneumatic Tool Company, Model 533ET, portable hand pneumatic abrasive wheel grinder, was not installed . An employee was, thereby exposed to struck by hazards.
