Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: %% The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Inadequate communication with the ground crew. An employee testing the bungee jump equipment left the balloon, that was approximately 190 feet above ground level, at 6300 Tennyson Street, Arvada, Colorado. The ground crew yelled numerous times to the pilot that the balloon was not high enough and were still trying to get the operator to take the balloon higher when the employee made the bungee jump. The employee struck the ground at a high rate of speed. "AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO HAVE RADIO COMMUNICATION WITH THE GROUND CREW."
