29 CFR 1926.651(k)(1): An inspection of the excavations, the adjacent areas, and protective systems was not conducted by the competent person prior to the start of work and as needed throughout the shift: a) Trench, West side of house: On or about February 20, 2025, the employer exposed employees to engulfment and cave-in hazards, in that; the employer did not inspect the trench for unsafe conditions as needed throughout the shift while trying to locate a concrete footer.
