Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees (a): On or about December 6, 2023, at the jobsite located at 944 Research Parkway, Rockford, Illinois, employees were exposed to struck-by and crashing hazards from an overhead crane while engaged in construction activities. The employer did not ensure employees were instructed on the recognition of the hazard. Among other methods, feasible means of abatement include training effected employees on procedures to follow to avoid overhead crane. (b): On or about December 6, 2023, at the jobsite located at 944 Research Parkway, Rockford, Illinois, employees were exposed to falls while engaged in construction activities. Fall protection was not being utilized while performing construction. Among other methods, feasible means of abatement include: Provide employees with personal fall arrest systems. Conduct training, including demonstrations, on how to use personal fall arrest systems. Implement a safety audit system to ensure employees comply with work rules.
