(i) Except as provided elsewhere in this section, the employer must ensure that each employee on a walking-working surface with an unprotected side or edge that is 4 feet. is protected from the below surfaces. The employer is failing to provide fall protection on working surfaces above 4 feet. This was most recently documented on January 8, 2020 at the CHI Health Lakeside Hospital Air Handler unit in maintenance. Employees were not protected from the fall hazards associated with work tasks associated with the air handler motor and belt inspections and repair work area(s).
