Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.307(c)(2)(I): Equipment, wiring methods, and installations of equipment in hazardous (classified) locations were not intrinsically safe, approved for the hazardous (classified) location, or safe for the hazardous (classified) location. Neither was the equipment approved for the class of location and for the ignitable or combustible properties of the specific gas, vapor, dust or fiber that would be present: a) On or about November 30, 2018, and at times prior, the employer, Trinidad Harvest Company, LLC., did not ensure equipment used in a Class 1 Division 2 location was intrinsically safe and approved for the location. Employees were required to use a Wagner heat gun (Model 2363333) to melt and form marijuana concentrate approximately 5 feet from an open extraction cylinder containing butane. The heat gun ignited the butane resulting in a flash-fire and exposing employees to burn hazards.
