29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Four instances of this violation occurred on or about 06/02/2017 in the shop area, at 4225 Highway 90 East, Broussard, LA: a. An employee was operating a Heckert Tung milling machine without a guard to protect the operator from a rotating impression blade to form a metal die. b. A Tong Mill Mud Groover was not guarded to protect the operator from a rotating impression blade to form a metal dye. c. An HEM, Inc. Saw was not guarded to protect the operator from the saw blade while cutting material. d. A DoAll band saw was not guarded to protect the operator from vertical blade while cutting material.
