Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001F Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a recognized hazard of electrical shock and burns: (a) P/B Northern Alaskan: Employees had occasion to work in a hazard area that may require the use of an emergency deluge shower that was located near a non-waterproof electrical outlet. This condition exposed employees to possible electrical shock or burns if contact was made with the outlet when wet. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to move the electrical outlet to another part of the engine room.
