Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a recognized hazard of electrical shock and burns: (e) P/B Northern Alaskan: Employees had occasion to walk or work in the hydraulic room were exposed to unguarded electric fluorescent light bulbs and conductors. This condition exposed employees to a possible broken bulb and exposure to live conductors and shock and/or electrical burns. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to install proper guard over the bulbs and conductors.
