29 CFR 1910.146(g)(1): Training. The employer shall provide training so that all employees whose work is regulated by this section acquire the understanding, knowledge, and skills necessary for the safe performance of the duties assigned under this section. On or about March 15, 2017, the employer failed to provide training for the safe performance of duties for employees assigned to work in permit-required confined spaces. Maintenance employees entered mixers to perform maintenance activities and equipment inspection. During mixer entry, employees had exposure to potential engulfment, fall and mechanical hazards.
