Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a recognized hazard of electrical shock or burns: (a) P/B Northern Alaskan: Employees working at the packing line weigh station had occasion to be near and around three conductor electric wires that were not enclosed in conduit or sheathing. This condition exposed employees to possible contact with exposed live wires should be wires be pulled out of the wall or solenoid. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to install the conductors in conduit.
