Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001B Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(3)(iii): Employee training did not include the measures employees can take to protect themselves from chemical hazards, including specific procedures the employer had implemented to protect employees from exposure to hazardous chemicals, such as appropriate work practices, emergency procedures and personal protective equipment to be used: (a) Building 82: On or about May 8, 2017 all affected personnel that work around cyanuric chloride powder were not trained on the HALS Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that stated to not apply water to spilled cyanuric chloride due to the hazardous reactivity of water and cyanuric chloride. Employees were permitted to use water to clean up spilled cyanuric chloride after a reactor charging process instead of the required dry type cleanup procedures.
