Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.451(f)(15): Ladders shall not be used on scaffolds to increase the working level height of employees, except on large area scaffolds where employers have satisfied the criteria in sub-paragraphs (i) through (iv): (a) On or about June 15, 2022, a 6-foot A-frame ladder was used on top of Metaltech scaffolding built two tiers tall to increase the working height of an employee tiling the fireplace exposing him to a fall hazard of approximately fourteen (14) feet or more to the concrete floor below. (b) On or about June 16, 2022, a 6-foot A-frame ladder was used on top of Metaltech scaffolding built two tiers tall to increase the working height of an employee grouting tile on a fireplace exposing him to a fall hazard of approximately fourteen (14) feet or more to the concrete floor below. Note: The scaffold was not a large area scaffold in that it did not cover the entire floor area of the room they were working in.
