Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.332(b)(1): Employees shall be trained in and familiar with the safety-related work practices required by 1910.331 through 1910.335 that pertain to their respective job assignments. (a) Clients' homes, hard-wired appliances: on or about August 16, 2021, installers and service technicians were exposed to electric shock hazard from unexpected energization during work on or near exposed de-energized parts normally operating above 50 volts. Employees were not trained in and familiar with safety-related work practices related to compliant lockout de-energization sequence. Lockout devices (e.g. circuit breaker locks) were not provided and applied on energy isolating devices (e.g. circuit breakers) prior to starting work. (b) Clients' homes, hard-wired appliances: on or about August 16, 2021, installers and service technicians were exposed to electric shock hazard during voltage testing on or near energized electrical components above 50 volts. Employees were not trained in and familiar with safety-related work practices related to use of electrical protective equipment such as the voltage-rated rubber insulating gloves with leather protectors. Abatement documentation is required for these items in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
