Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.133(a)(3): The employer did not ensure that each affected employee who wears prescription lenses while engaged in operations that involve eye hazards wears eye protection that incorporates the prescription in its design, or wears eye protection that can be worn over the prescription lenses without disturbing the proper position of the prescription lenses or the protective lenses. A.) Microtech Knives, Inc., 300 Chestnut Street Ext., Bradford, PA 16701, on or about December 12, 2019 and times prior thereto: Employees performing work operations that included, but were not limited to, surface grinding and treat treating utilized prescription eyewear with removable protective side shields. The prescription eyewear was not ANSI Z87 approved. Supplemental eye protection was not worn over the prescription eyewear. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation (see below). This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
