Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees are exposed to a fall from elevation: a) 1125 State Road A1A, Satellite Beach, FL, Roof - Employees were exposed to a fall of approximately 15 feet while accessing the roof of the elevator shaft. The employees were using a folding fiberglass ladder that was approximately 1 foot below the landing. ABATEMENT NOTES: Among other methods, one feasible method to reduce this hazard is to extend the ladder at least one foot and no more than three feet above the landing. Reference, the American National Standard A14.5-1992, section A9.3.10.
