Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employer did not ensure that a trailer hitch used to tow a vehicle was of sufficient strength to prevent failure of the hitch: On or about March 20, 2000, at 7701 SW Allapattah Road, Indiantown, Florida; the employer did not ensure that a hitch utilized for equipment recovery operations was of sufficient strength to resist mechanical failure. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard is as follows: To ensure that equipment used to tow vehicles is of sufficient strength to prevent mechanical failure of any of its components. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
