Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment: On or about July 22, 2024, employees engaged in rail car movement in the south yard of Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) - Columbus located at 3000 East 8th Street, Columbus, Nebraska were exposed to electrical burns and shock hazards in that the employer did not evaluate the inside cab of the ADM - Columbus locomotive 2479 prior to employees operating it. Employees were documented to have worked near and/or have activated the controls of the drive unit cabinet in which the rear panel was hanging by one screw exposing them to live electrical parts operating at approximately 74 volts.
