OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that power tool operators were exposed to entanglement hazards also resulting in caught-in and struck-by hazards while operating powered hand tools while wearing loose fitting clothing: a.) S & S Packaging on or about December 20, 2021 at the address of 10549 Crosby Circle, Cranesville, PA: An employee operating a Skil 9295 angle grinder was injured after their loose clothing became entangled in the wheel of the grinder. The loose clothing consisted of a sweatshirt that had strings hanging down in the front of the employee. When the employee was using the hand powered portable grinder, the strings became tangled in the grinder. The incident resulted in severe lacerations injuries and fractures.
