Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.272(g)(1)(ii):Prior to entry, all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment which presented a danger to employees inside grain storage structures in the grain handling facility were not disconnected, locked out and tagged; The employer is failing to protect employees from caught-in hazards associated with energized equipment prior to entering inside the grain storage structure. This was most recently documented on or about October 25, 2021 at the Scoular Company jobsite located at 766 East 20th Street South in Wellington, Kansas. Where employees engaged in internal grain bin maintenance activities were exposed to caught-in hazards in that the employer had not ensured potentially hazardous equipment energy had been isolated as to prevent operation. The grain bin in which the employees were engaged in internal maintenance activities was found to be energized and hazardous equipment running while employees continued to work inside the grain storage structure.
