Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.101(b): The handling, storage, and utilization of all compressed gases in cylinders, portable tanks, rail tankcars, or motor vehicle cargo tanks shall be in accordance with Compressed Gas Association Pamphlet (CGA) P-1-1965, which is incorporated by reference as specified in Sec. 1910.6. Section 3.3.1 of the CGA Pamphlet P-1-1965 refers to storing cylinders in accordance with CGA and NFPA standards. The CGA Pamphlet P-1-1991 Section 3.7.4.1 states that "All compressed gas cylinders in service or in storage shall be secured to prevent from falling." a) Loading Dock - The employer did not ensure that the eight 100 pound nitrogen compressed gas cylinders, when in storage, were immobilized by chains or other means to prevent them from being knocked over, thereby exposing the employees to hazards associated with fire and explosions. Observed on or about 18 AUG 2021.
