Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: (a) U-Haul of West Central Colorado dba U-Haul Moving & Storage of Highlands Ranch at 1750 E. County Line Rd. Highlands Ranch Colorado 80126: On or before 10/9/2020, the employer did not protect employees from crushing injuries in that employees were operating the Toyota forklift without wearing a seatbelt. An employee sustained serious injuries due to the Toyota forklift tipping over. This condition exposed employees to crushing and caught-between hazards. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item. See enclosed "Certification of Corrective Actions Worksheet." Among other methods, a feasible and accepted method to correct this hazard is to ensure that operators utilize the factory installed seatbelt during operation.
