Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer did not instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his/her environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury: The employer is failing to protect employee(s) from electrical shock hazards. This was most recently documented on June 30, 2020 at the jobsite located at the corner of Louisa and Williams in Williamsburg, KS. An employee, installing equipment for upgraded internet service on the 115 feet tall water tower, received injuries from an electrical shock when the communications cable he was feeding thru conduit on the top of the tower blew into an overhead power line approximately 60 feet away. The employee had not received training to recognize, evaluate, and control hazards associated with the work he was assigned.
