Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Burrows Enterprises, LLC, 2024 E 8th St., Greeley, CO 80631: On or before May 5, 2020, the employer did not provide one or more methods of machine guarding to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. An employee was operating the Okuma Lathe model CAPTAIN-L370 L/M serial #780.519622. The employees arm was caught in between the lathe machine opening and shaft by the gloves that were warn while performing the polishing shaft operation. The ingoing nip points and rotating parts were not guarded. This exposes employees to caught-in and amputation hazards.
