Encapsulation of molten slag in a puddle of water could cause a sudden explosion, causing burns, creating steam and debris. Among other methods, one feasible way to abate the condition is to have adequate water drainage to prevent water accumulation. A grid to break up globules of the molten materials before entering the water may be beneficial.
