Abstract: At 3:00 a.m. on January 28, 2015, Employee #1, employed by a construction company, was assigned to perform paving work for a highway construction project. He and other crew members were in the process of removing a K-rail concrete barrier, using a forklift to lift the barrier and move it onto a truck. Employee #1 was on the ground and trying to remove the 2-foot-long steel pin that connects the concrete barriers. He was using a 1-foot-long pry bar tool. The pry bar moved out of position, and Employee #1's hand slipped away and was caught between the pin and the K-rail barrier. His right middle finger was crushed. Emergency services were called, and Employee #1 was transported to the hospital. He was admitted and treated for a crushing injury.
