Abstract: At 11:49 a.m. on April 22, 2021, an employee, working as a packing material distributor at a produce company in Chula Vista, CA, was delivering packing materials. After parking a 24-foot box truck at the loading dock, the employee exited the vehicle and proceeded to the back of the truck. He climbed onto the loading dock using two steps and a handrail attached to the truck. As the employee placed his right foot on the dock plate to move onto the loading dock, he lost his balance and grip on the handrail, causing him to fall approximately 4 feet to the ground. The employee sustained a head injury, requiring hospitalization at UCSD hospital.
