Abstract: At 12:15 p.m. on March 31, 2021, an employee was using a pedestal grinder with a wire wheel attached to clean a chainsaw chain in order to prepare the chainsaw for sharpening. The employee had the chain wrapped around his fingers to hold it steady while pressing it against the wire wheel for cleaning. The saw chain was caught by the wire wheel and pulled it into the machine. The chain pinched his fingers, partially amputating the middle, ring and pinky fingers on his left hand. The employee was treated without hospitalization.
