Abstract: At 9:30 p.m. on March 9, 2021, an employee was finishing up a quality inspection on the Hamba line 5 machine. The employee was walking upline on the machine to retrieve her inspection bucket. The employee tripped while walking upline and then slipped due to slippery conditions. The employee fell and reached out to catch her fall on the Hamba machine. Her left arm caught on the steel station, but her right arm entered the latch gap. This caused her right arm to be pulled into the sprayer area of the Hamba machine. This lasted for 15 seconds before a coworker deactivated the machine. Paramedics were called, and the jaws of life were used to extract the employee. The employee was hospitalized to treat broken bones in the hand, torn tendons and ligaments in the lower arm, and degloving of the hand.
