Abstract: At 12:45 p.m. on February 1, 2021, Employee #1 was retrieving a backflange from a rack using a pneumatic hoist and hook. After placing the hook in the correct location on the backflange, the employee began raising it. The backflange stuck to the part underneath it and, when it broke free, bounced off the hook and pinned the tip of the employee's left thumb between the backflange and the rack. The incident resulted in the amputation of the tip of his left thumb. The employee was treated without hospitalization.
