Abstract: At 3:40 p.m. on September 26, 2019, an employee who worked as a sawing machine operator for a sawmill was in a chemical room adjusting the chemical flow meter that goes to a boiler. While in the room, the employee heard the exterior door close which limited the light in the room. The employee stated that the room went dark and he was unable to see so he attempted to open the louvers to the exhaust fan allowing light to come into the room. The fan was powered on and when the employee reached to open the louvers he couldn't see the spinning fan which he struck with his right hand. The employee severely lacerated his middle finger and incurred injuries to his index finger. The employee was transported to the hospital, where he was admitted for surgery. The employee's nailbed on his middle finger had to be be removed and the bone to be trimmed back.
