Abstract: At 1:00 p.m. on September 12, 2018, Employee #1, employed by a construction company, was engaged in interior masonry work for a new one-story commercial building, a multiemployer construction project. He placed concrete masonry unit (CMU) blocks on the deck of a scaffold in preparation for their later installation. As he walked over to the ladder to descend the scaffold, he stepped on an unsecured overhanging plank, the plank moved, and he fell. Emergency services transported the employee to the hospital, where he was admitted and treated for seven fractured ribs, a fractured collarbone, a fractured nose, and various lacerations.
