Abstract: At 1:37 a.m. on June 28, 2018, four longshoremen were on located on a dock, observing the movement of vessel in preparation for the loading of cargo. They were near a boom lift, which Employee #1 walked behind, when the vessels spring line parted and contacted Employees #1 and #2. Employee #1 was determined dead and Employee #2 was transported to a local hospital where he was evaluated and transferred to a more specialized facility for treatment. The other two longshoremen only sustained minor injuries that did not require hospitalization.
